Hi Everybody,
Welcome to the beginning of the 2024 academic year. I hope everything is
getting off to a good start. I wanted to remind you all that today is our
annual Picnic on the Hill. Families and friends are welcome.
One note of caution, I need to remind people that if you are bringing dogs,
they need to be leashed. Indeed, I have been notified that there have been
several incidents of dogs jumping on people, barking, etc. I know "your"
dog is harmless and won't hurt anybody, but for the person who is being
jumped on and barked at, the feeling is quite different. So as a reminder,
if you are bringing a dog to campus, it needs to be on a leash or in your
office. Under no circumstances are pet dogs allowed in research labs,
insectary rooms, corridors to insectary rooms, or simply allowed to run
through the hallways. Service animals are obviously an exception. Please
be mindful of those of us who are not fans of our pets.

Thanks and see you this afternoon.
