Hello,
My name is Aushee Heagney, this year's president of the Natural History
Museum Club at UCR. For those who are unfamiliar with NHMC, we are an
on-campus student organization dedicated to providing multidisciplinary
education and opportunities for students interested in museum work, which
would otherwise be inaccessible or limited in scope. We accomplish this
through volunteering with faculty who utilize collections on campus. We
have assisted with projects like Entomology outreach drawers and
inventorying sections of the Geology department's specimens. For more
information or to see photos, please see our HighlanderLink
<https://highlanderlink.ucr.edu/organization/nhmc>.
Please pass the following information onto your students who might be
interested.
*"NHMC is having their annual Careers in Museums Mixer tomorrow!*
*This is a great chance to mingle with faculty and learn about the many
undergraduate research and volunteer opportunities in UCR's natural history
collections. We will have a wide variety of faculty attending, including
entomology, geology, and botany, and they will each introduce themselves,
their work, their career, and how you can get involved. The keynote speaker
is Ian Wright, Curator of Natural History at the Museum of Riverside! All
years and all majors are welcome! The mixer is in HUB 269 from 4-7pm, but
you can come or go whenever you please. Free food and refreshments will be
provided. If you plan to attend, please fill out this RSVP form to account
for food: https://forms.gle/BriKKZbpAGiVFJ5S6
<https://forms.gle/BriKKZbpAGiVFJ5S6>".*
Thank you so much and have a good day!
Best,
--
Aushee Heagney
