Hi, all. A reminder for this year's FERM Annual Meeting.

It's this coming Saturday, March 9th, and the speaker will be Ian Wright, formerly from UCR, but now curator of Natural History at the refurbished Museum of Riverside (formerly the Riverside Municipal Museum). He will be talking about nature photography (macro and otherwise), largely dealing with insects. It will be similar but not identical to his departmental seminar, given recently, though it has the same title:

"Photographing Insects in the Field and Studio"

Ian will be bringing along some equipment for people to try out, and some canvas prints of his photos for the post-talk Auction, as well.

For those who are unfamiliar with FERM, it is the Friends of the Entomology Research Museum, a non-profit support group, from which donations and membership fees are used to fund purchases of materials or services that benefit the Museum (such as visiting curator stipends). Non-members are welcome to attend the meeting, but we would appreciate it if you consider becoming a member; annual dues are only $10.

See https://entmuseum.ucr.edu/ferm for more information.

The usual routine will be followed for the meeting, namely:

The meeting will be in the main Entomology Building, ground floor conference room (not in the Museum).

Dinner begins at 6, the talk begins at 7, and the auction comes after the talk. People responsible for setup will be there around 5:15 to get the room prepared.

Dinner is pot luck, and we ask that people who are able to, to please bring entrees that can feed at least 4 people; if you can't bring an entree, then snacks or desserts.

FERM will provide cups, plates, utensils, a few snacks, and plenty of beverages.

It is helpful to send an RSVP (to dyanega at gmail.com<mailto:dyanega at gmail.com>), to assist us in our planning.

Campus parking is actually easy; the BLUE section of Lot 6, right near Entomology, has free parking on weekends.
Peace,

-----------
