Open Position: Field and Laboratory Technician
Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory, Vero Beach, Florida
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our
team (Nathan Burkett Cadena’s lab) at the Florida Medical Entomology
Laboratory in Vero Beach, Florida. This position is available starting
August of 2024. The position will support ongoing and developing research
related to ecology of mosquitoes and mosquito-borne pathogens. Strong
applicants should have a background in biology or entomology and some
experience in molecular sciences (DNA extraction, PCR, electrophoresis).
Experience with fieldwork and/or insect identification is desirable, but
not necessary.
The Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory is a unique research facility of
the University of Florida with 12 faculty members focused on
arthropod-transmitted disease. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in
Entomology, Ecology, Biology, or related field. Driver’s license. Legally
permitted to work in the USA.

• Employment type: Hourly (up to 40 hrs. per week)
• Rate of pay: $20.00 / hour
