> Field Techs:We are seeking 6 motivated and experienced summer field technicians to conduct bee surveys as part of the Wild Bees of Montana Project, a 15-year study to document the fauna of the state. The field technicians will work in 2-person teams to sample bees using a variety of traps (bee bowls, blue vanes, Malaise, Lindgren funnels, etc.) and net collecting. Net collected bees will be processed (pinned or pointed) in the field at the end of each day. Extensive driving on roads of variable quality will be involved. Camping for multiple days in a row will be frequent while doing fieldwork. One crew may be involved in wilderness work, which may involve backpacking, horse/mule packing and light aircraft in remote areas with grizzly bears, wolves and mountain lions. Crews will travel to the MTEC in Bozeman approximately monthly to drop off mounted bees and trap samples for further processing in the lab.
>
>
> Lab Techs: We are also seeking 2 experienced technicians who will work in the lab at the MTEC to process incoming field samples, including data entry, sorting/cleaning, and drying and pinning/pointing bee specimens to museum-quality standards. Occasional field work is also a possibility if there is interest and experience.
