Hi students,

I just wanted to share this again with a message from Samantha Young, the
coordinator. She let me know that they are in need of people with a bit of
training in biology to help out as hike and survey leaders because there is
so much public interest in the event. Unfortunately, I can't join due to a
prior commitment, but I wanted to pass this along in case anyone would like
to serve as a survey/hike leader. I'd be happy to cover travel costs from
my endowed chair fund if there are a few of you who would like to carpool
to the event. You can also book a stay at the Steel Burnand Research Center
<https://ucnrs.org/reserves/steeleburnand-anza-borrego-desert-research-center/>
if
you need lodging. If you are interested please email Samantha Young <
samantha at theabf.org> with me cc'd.

Cheers,
Kerry

Hi Everyone,

I hope this message finds you well!

Anza-Borrego Foundation and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park are hosting a
BioBlitz *Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th*, as part of the
global City Nature Challenge <https://www.citynaturechallenge.org/> and in
celebration of Earth Day. Our State Environmental Scientist from the
Colorado Desert District will be leading each taxon group effort. This is
the first time we’ve organized something to this extent and want to involve
as many interested organizations and scientists as possible.

We’d like to invite you to be involved in whatever capacity you’re
interested – we’d love to have scientist/amateur experts on various taxa
help out in surveying species. We plan to have groups covering Plants,
Bats, Birds, Amphibians, Reptiles, and Arthropods, and Snails (pending good
conditions). If you’re interested, please reply to this email with the taxa
you’re interested in supporting and I can share additional details.

Also, we’re looking for sponsors for this event! We would love any
connections or suggestions to organizations that might be interested in
sponsoring and getting their name out to our approximately 90,000
constituents from combined e-newsletter, social media, and monthly website
views. I’ve attached a formal sponsorship letter that you’re welcome to
share.

Thanks in advance for any insight! Here’s the registration page
<https://theabf.org/events/anza-borrego-desert-bioblitz/> for the public to
participate - we’d love it if you could share this far and wide. It will be
the event of the spring!

Sincerely,

Samantha Young
