The following message has been forwarded on behalf of Doug Yanega.

Hi, all. After some discussion, we've decided that we've gone long enough without any in-person FERM meetings, so after the very long hiatus, we're going to have a FERM Quarterly Meeting next Thursday evening, November 3rd. The meeting will begin at 5 PM in the Large Conference Room.

The speakers will be Doug Yanega, talking about native planthopper research and biogeography, and John Heraty, talking about hunting microwasps in Hawaii.

We will provide pizza (including vegetarian options) and beverages, as usual, but need to know how many people want to attend so we can plan accordingly: PLEASE send an RSVP to dyanega at gmail.com<mailto:dyanega at gmail.com> stating if you plan to attend. This will also help in terms of planning for seating, in case we get a large number of people intending to come.

If all goes well, we expect to have food available around 5, and talks should start by 6. Feel free to bring along non-pizza food or other beverages if you are inclined, but please let us know in advance.

Given how long it's been, there may be many new people in the department unfamiliar with FERM, so I'll give a brief explanation: FERM is a non-profit group, Friends of the Entomology Research Museum, that takes small donations from private individuals and funds things like visiting curators, small field trips, and equipment purchases related to the Museum and its various activities. Members are asked to contribute $10 per year, but larger donations are accepted. Non-members are still welcome to attend our meetings, but we would encourage you to join if you think you might do so regularly.

Take care,

--
