[Entm-beu] covid/masks

All,
Covid numbers are starting to rocket up. Just in the last week, we have
had several people in the Department get sick (mild to quite ill, but no
ventilators yet). And those are just the ones I know about. We have all
been a bit too lax with the masks, social distancing, hand washing etc.,
myself included. Although we are not under a campus mask mandate (yet),
both LA and Riverside County are rapidly headed in that direction. I also
remind you that we have several people in the Department that are
immunocompromised, have immunocompromised people at home, or very little
kids who have not been fully vaccinated yet. I am asking all of us to
please wear a mask in common areas and any area where there are multiple
individuals, try and practice safe distancing, and wash your hands
frequently. The new variant, Omicron BA.5 is exceptionally contagious. If
you are alone in your office or lab, you can choose to not wear a mask.
Please take care of yourself and as a result others as well.
