[Entm-beu] Undergraduate position: Insect Keeper in the Department of Entomology at UCR

*Insect Keeper in the Department of Entomology at UCR*

*Positions: **Two* (undergraduate) Student 1 positions at 5 hours/week

*Start date and duration: *September 1, 2022; until August 2022, with
quarterly re-appointment

*Pay rate:* $15/hour

*Job Description:* The UCR Entomology Department maintains a collection of
living arthropods for display within the Department and outreach events
(Insect Fair, visits to schools, etc.). The two undergraduate student
employees will care for various species of insects, arachnids, millipedes,
and more, housed in Entomology. Duties include feeding of the collections
and maintenance of the terrariums and aquariums. The Department is aiming
on growing its Insect Zoo, so student employees will have the opportunity
to help shape the direction of this collection. Student employees will be
supervised by the chair of the Outreach Committee in Entomology, currently
Dr. Christiane Weirauch.

*Requirements:* Undergraduate student at UCR. Passion for insects and other
arthropods. Strong preference for applicants with experience with
successfully maintaining arthropods as pets or insect maintenance as part
of prior job experience at UCR or elsewhere.
