> This fully supported 4-year PhD position in my lab at the University of Florida is funded by a National Science Foundation grant through the ARTS program (Advancing Revisionary Systematics and Taxonomy). The project focuses on Nylanderia taxonomy and will involve dozens of new species descriptions. The student will be working primarily with museum collections as there are many many drawers of unsorted and un-identified Nylanderia in major collections. The project encompasses both molecular systematics (UCEs) and morphology (including CT-scanning and geometric morphometrics). Prior experience with these techniques is not necessary, but there will be lots of training opportunities to learn new tools, teach about ants, work with our local museum, and more. In addition to this position, my co-PI, John LaPolla, is also looking for a MS student to join his lab at Towson University.
