YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Research and Development Specialist III Pest Control, are to:


  *   Work with scientists in pest control team to coordinate, execute and supervise experiments of undergraduate students or contractors;
  *   Partner with stakeholders across the BLXs different department to deliver results according to timelines and projects;
  *   Design new bioassays to address specific technical questions relating to 2-3 research projects;
  *   Perform bioassay at a consistent throughput, with high quality and repeatability;
  *   Collect, collate, and analyze data;
  *   Estimate throughput is 3-4 bioassays per week;
  *   Interpret data and prepare specialized reports and presentations summarizing activities and making recommendations for next steps;
  *   Leverage statistics tools and quality control processes to realize accuracy, efficiency and expanded improvements to protocols;
  *   Interpret data and prepare specialized reports and presentations summarizing activities and making recommendations for next steps;
  *   Capture data in Eln, in databases and conduct data quality check;
  *   Be responsible for lab equipment specific to research expertise, including maintenance;
  *   Be responsible for assigned lab areas;
  *   Learn a variety of mechanical, electrical, software, problem solving, and customer interaction skills as the team simultaneously support lab automation process;
  *   Perform tasks to ensure compliance with Bayer policies and quality standard;
  *   Adhere to all laboratory safety policies and practices as well as compliance;
  *   Support the development and activities in pest control, actively participate in departmental activities, team meeting and team building etc.;
  *   Communicate effectively by listening, documentation, and presentation;
  *   Coordinate and cooperate on research activities with peers, supervisors and subordinates;
  *   Meet/interact with internal customer from different departments to support design bioassay design (using robust statistical techniques);
  *   Make oral and written reports on experimental results in order to enable stakeholders to make appropriate decisions based on scientific results.

Required Qualifications:


  *   M.S. with at least one year of relevant experience;
  *   B.S. in Entomology or other biological science, with at least four years of relevant experience;
  *   Previous industry experience;
  *   Non-degreed with 12 years relevant experience;
  *   Broad understanding of instrumentation and scientific principles;
  *   Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills;
  *   Proficiency with experimental design and scientific instrumentation, execute various experiments and analysis in a high throughput setting;
  *   Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks/projects at the same time;
  *   Excellent planning and organizational skills;
  *   Passion to grow and willingness to be intellectually challenged;
  *   Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  *   Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multicultural research team;
  *   Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks/projects at the same time;
  *   Excellent planning and organizational skills;
  *   Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet programs, and LIMS-based data management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:


  *   Experience with microbial/biologicals.
