Subject: CUSP Faculty Mentorship Apps Due Dec 1st
Dear Faculty,
I wanted to send you a reminder about the December 1st deadline for faculty CUSP<https://cnasgrad.ucr.edu/cusp> mentor applications. As you know, CNAS is launching CUSP<https://cnasgrad.ucr.edu/cusp>: Career Mentoring of Underrepresented STEM Students for the Professoriate, a pilot project<https://news.ucr.edu/articles/2020/09/02/diversifying-sciences> funded by the UC-HSI Doctoral Diversity Initiative (UC-HSI DDI)<https://www.ucop.edu/graduate-studies/initiatives-outreach/uc-hsi-ddi.html>.
We are recruiting faculty to provide career mentoring to underrepresented students who are seeking careers in the professoriate. Faculty mentor responsibilities include: committing to a year-long program of one-on-one career mentoring with a student outside their department, helping that student develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP), and attending/presenting in a professional development seminar series in Spring 2021.
Ideal faculty mentors are those who have a passion for one-on-one mentoring. Experience mentoring underrepresented students is beneficial, but not required. Faculty mentors will receive a research stipend of $1250 for participating in the program. CUSP Mentor<https://forms.gle/GEVPdWpp66wUNCZt8> applications are open until December 1st, 2020.
Please visit the CUSP<https://cnasgrad.ucr.edu/cusp> website or contact laura.mcgeehan at ucr.edu<mailto:Laura.McGeehan at ucr.edu> for more information about the program. We hope you will consider participating to help a student achieve their career goals.
