<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body style="overflow-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;">Dear Colleagues and English majors,<div><br></div><div>I know many of us have been impacted by the recent wind and firestorms.</div><div><br></div><div>For those of you who have had to leave your homes, my heart goes out to you.</div><div><br></div><div>Many of us have been also trying to estimate or respond to impacts on teaching or learning.</div><div><br></div><div>Of course, since “remote” instruction means home instruction, and many of our home lives have been upended to some degree, instructional impacts are not necessarily limited to campus classrooms or student travel to campus.</div><div><br></div><div>At a moment when perhaps we are turning a few corners, I wanted to ask you if you could provide me with any comment on impacts you’ve experienced, as I would like to transmit an appropriate level of concern, if warranted, to the College and campus. I’ve provided a couple of categories to work with, and your responses can be brief: “minor” or “in crisis” for example. I will not transmit any personal information or identifiers.</div><div><br></div><div>If you’re OK, and this is unnecessary, please excuse the interruption. If you’re really struggling to get right, for yourself or for your teaching, and can’t take the time, just a brief indicator of that would be appreciated. If there’s something I can do, please let me know here, too.</div><div><br></div><div>Please describe any impact you’ve experienced below, feel free to add categories as you see fit. You don’t need to fill in any areas you don’t feel particularly impacted in.</div><div><br></div><div>1.
