UWP Lecturers Carl Freedman lecture, Wednesday, 3 PM

This is just a reminder that UCR's Spring extravaganza of science  
fiction scholarship kicks off this week with a lecture by Carl  
Freedman of LSU entitled "Marxism, Cinema, and Some Dialectics of  
Science Fiction and Film Noir." The talk will take place at 3 PM  
Wednesday in the English Department seminar room (HMNSS 2212).

Professor Freedman is a witty and erudite man, and I think that his  
talk will prove of interest to those of you concerned with popular  
culture studies, film studies, and Marxist and Critical Theory, as  
well as with science fiction in particular. Refreshments will be served.
