The following information has been provided to all UCR Academic Senate
Faculty, Non-Exclusively Represented Academic Employees (not presented by a
union), and Represented Academic Employees (lecturers and librarians) via
Scotmail.  Please forward a hard copy of this notice to any affected
employees (as listed above) in your department/unit who do not have email
access or who have not been designated as either "Academic Senate" or
"Non-Senate Academic" employees in your UCR Tel program database (which is
maintained and updated by your departmental UCR Tel Coordinator).  If
affected employees do not have internet access, they have been advised to
contact you for the policy.  This notice is provided to staff for
informational purposes only.  Any comments you might wish to make should be
directed to your Departmental Chair or equivalent academic manager.

Dear Colleagues,

The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, after consultation
with the Academic Senate Committee on Faculty Welfare, is pleased to
announce the first annual CALL for the Dickson Emeritus/a Faculty Award.

The Edward A. Dickson Emeritus/a Professorship Award at the Riverside campus
will be awarded beginning with the 2008-2009 academic year and annually
thereafter, to one or more emeritus professors for teaching, research, or
public service activities that are in accordance with the intent of the
donor. The awardee(s) shall be known as the Edward A. Dickson Emeritus/a
Professor for the duration of the award.  The award also conveys up to
$6,000 which may be used for salary, travel or research support, subject to
all policies and requirements of the University and the Riverside Campus.

Proposals of no more that 2 pages addressing how the candidate would use the
award should be submitted along with a current CV, to the Committee on
Faculty Welfare at the Office of the Academic Senate by October 1, 2007.

Once on the Academic Personnel website, click on "What's New" in the
left-hand column. Then scroll down the screen until you see "The Edward A.
Dickson Emeritus/a Professorship Award". Click on that link and it will take
you directly to the CALL. The CALL is also attached to this announcement in
both Microsoft Word and PDF formats.
