Subject: A Summer Teaching Opportunity

Katherine and Steve:

I just received a call from Earl Sisto (X24143) who is organizing a
one-week residential summer program at UCR for Native American students in
grades 7-12. He would like to find an instructor to teach two unofficial
one-week writing sections for those students. There will be twenty
students in each class. One section will meet MTWRF from 9-10, the other
from 10-11. This part of the program will run from August 22-26. The goal
will be to enable the students to write a brief essay ready for publication
by the end of the week. The summer program will arrange to have the essays
bound and circulated.

The pay -- $500 in total -- is not high; but there might be graduate
students, or others, who would look forward to working with these
students. Earl would like us to refer applicants, or a selection of
applicants, to him so that he can make the final selection. He asks that
we try to find candidates as soon as possible. (Earl is Director of Native
American Student Programs.)

John
