Hi all,
I wanted to let you know about a current exhibit of nineteenth-century and
early twentieth-century photographs of Native Americans on display at the
California Museum of Photography until January 2007. There will also be a
related symposium on April 14 (4-7 PM) in which Professors Michelle Raheja
and Cliff Trafzer will speak.
The exhibit and symposium were both designed by English Department graduate
student Christie Firtha. Please do plan to attend both (either will count as
280 credit). Congratulations to Christie on an important job well done.
Yours sincerely,
Steve Axelrod

Dear Katherine and Steve,
I am writing to personally invite you both to the exhibit and symposium
I have put together for the California Museum of Photography. The
exhibit and symposium began as an extension of my dissertation. I was
doing research into stereotypical photographs of Indians which were
popular during the end of the 19th Century and beginning of the 20th
Century. After talking with the curator of collections, I proposed an
idea for an exhibition to the director of the museum and am happy to
say that he approved the exhibit for the collections space. The
exhibit has been up since the 9th of March and will remain until
January of 2006. In addition, I have been asked to complete a
book(let) to accompany the exhibit. The book will be for sale in the
museum gift shop.
The flier detailing the exhibit and the date and time of the symposium
is attached.
I hope to see you both there.
Best,
Christie
