Dear all,

On behalf of the EDGE Institute, welcome to the start of the new academic
year!

For those of you who are new to UCR, EDGE is the Environmental Dynamics and
GeoEcology Institute. Our goal is to bring together interdisciplinary
scientists to enable scientific discovery about our changing world,
prioritizing the development of just and sustainable solutions to issues
involving land, air, water, and ecosystems, while educating students, the
public, and policymakers.

If you are interested in sustainability, global change, and the
environment, we hope you will get involved with EDGE this year!

Upcoming Events:

EDGE is co-sponsoring a keynote speaker and reception alongside an upcoming
workshop on aquatic methane emissions on *November 3, 2026*. The reception
will be in the Geology Building courtyard from 4-5 pm, and we will confirm
the location of the keynote talk shortly. I am attaching a flyer with more
information about the speaker. If you are interested in additional details
about the workshop, please contact Francesca Hopkins (fhopkins at ucr.edu). Please
save the date!

Next, please keep an eye out for information about the inaugural offering
of our new graduate class, GEO/ENSC/EEOB 202, which will be offered in
Winter 2027. The weekly 1-credit seminar will be a chance for graduate
students across CNAS to learn about EDGE-themed research at UCR. For
faculty, if you are interested in presenting, please reach out to me. For
students, please keep an eye out for scheduling information; all are
welcome to register!


Also, please reach out if you have information about an upcoming
EDGE-related event that you would like to share with the group.
