The Theater Department at Wesleyan University is please to announce this position:

Assistant Professor in Acting

The Theater Department at Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Acting, beginning in July 1, 2012. Candidates should have a MFA, PhD, or other appropriate terminal degree. Professional credentials and evidence of artistic research are required. Teaching experience in a liberal arts environment is desirable. Teaching load consists of three introductory acting courses and a fourth course in the candidate's area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include advising and university service. We seek candidates actively engaged with artistic research and innovation, and prepared to teach courses in at least one specific technique. Specialization in voice for the stage (Linklater, Fitzmaurice, Roy Hart) is preferred; other desired areas of expertise are, though not limited to: movement (Lecoq, Laban, Alexander Technique, Suzuki, stage combat); non-Western theater and cross-cultural techniques; actor's dramaturgy and devised theater; and new media and performance. An interest in acting pedagogy is a must.

The Theater Department considers the critical and creative study of each theatrical area to be an essential component of a liberal arts education. Our curriculum equally supports scholarly and artistic investigation, as well as the exploration of both traditional and experimental forms.
