Mellon Workshops for faculty and advanced graduate students

 

Applications are now open for Mellon Faculty and Graduate Student Workshops in the Humanities for 2011-12

 

Mellon Workshops bring together several UCR faculty members and graduate students from different departments, meeting regularly to present their work-in-progress and otherwise explore a topic or problem of common intellectual concern in the humanities or humanistically oriented social sciences.

 

Funding: $5000 per group

 

Goals

1.     To support innovative interdisciplinary research.

2.     To encourage the pursuit of ideas and issues that span traditional disciplinary boundaries.

3.     To create dynamic intellectual communities that support new research possibilities and agendas.

4.     To provide supportive contexts for graduate student scholarship, particularly for dissertation-stage students.

5.     To prepare graduate students to make smooth transitions from their roles as students to those of peers and colleagues.

6.     To assist faculty members in their efforts to provide top-level graduate student intellectual and professional training.
