The exhibit hopes to challenge societys definition of beauty with the
intention of confronting gender/beauty stereotypes, bias and assumptions.
It also hopes to widen the definition and provoke discussions of redefining
beauty.

Healing Almas Con Palabras
MALCS de UCR presents Healing Almas Con Palabras as an open and safe place
to read and share our creative work.
Chicana scholars, writers, and poetas have used words as a way to empower
their communities, to tell their stories, and strengthened their almas.
We invite all raza to come out and read their own creative pieces or to
share a piece from their favorite Chicana writer.

Uncovering Chicana and Latina Women Poets
In this workshop students will become aware of the Chicana/Latina women
writers. By looking at their work students will become aware of the
experiences of these writers through their particular voice and style.
As well this will make students more knowledgeable of the women
poets/writers that they can connect to as Chicana or Latina women.

Platica/Q&A with Sylvia Morales, Director
A Crushing Love, Sylvia Morales sequel to her groundbreaking history
of Chicana women, Chicana (1979), honors the achievements of
five activist Latinas Dolores Huerta, Elizabeth Betita Martinez,
Cherrie Moraga, Alicia Escalante, and Martha Cotera
and considers how they balanced single motherhood and activism.

Men Can Stop Rape:
Men Creating Change
Men Can Stop Rape is the nation's most comprehensive platform for engaging
college men in preventing violence against women, developing and
supporting healthy masculinity, and organizing to create sustainable
violence prevention programs and cultures.
Join this two-part discussion on relationship violence, men's roles in
addressing violence against women, the development of a possible Men
Creating Change Chapter; and theories, tools and concrete activities for
probable trainers and facilitators to educate, decrease violence,
and increase the rate of reporting.
