--which stands for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

All undergrad AND graduate playwrights: check out the following info and links (paraphrased from their email to us).

National Playwriting Program Information:

Look at the website at kcactf-8.org for complete submission guidelines. Students can also check the national website <kcactf.org> for a complete description of the awards.

The prizes for these awards are outstanding. Many playwrights will be invited to the Kennedy Center for a week packed with learning opportunities at the national festival. The three playwrights from our region who attended last year raved about their experiences.

Any eligible student can submit 2 ten-minute plays, 2 one-acts and 2 full-length plays related to a Michael Kanin Award category.

Please remember that students will need to send each play in a PDF format as well as fill out an electronic entry form. We have eliminated the John Cauble production slot at our regional festival. One-acts will be selected by readers from another region, just like the ten-minute plays. We will invite the six winning playwrights to bring a reading of the one-act play to the festival. We will still cast and work-shop the selected ten-minute plays. Ten-minute plays are no more than 10 pages. One-acts run from 11-60 pages.

Student Fringe Festival

This year at Festival, the region is excited to announce the creation of a new fringe festival of student work. We're looking for work that is less than 1 hour in length and requires less than 1 hour to load-in and crew. The work can be devised, spoken work or an established a one-act play. These productions only need to be registered as associate productions. This is a new opportunity.

Please consult and explore the websites mentioned above; then contact Prof. Erith Jaffe-Berg if you have any further questions.
