Poetry, Politics, and the Question of Palestine
A Reading and Conversation with
Fady Joudah and Hayan Charara
Fady Joudah is a Palestinian-American poet, translator, and physician, who
lives in Houston, Texas. He is the author of *The Earth in the Attic* (Yale
UP, 2008) and the translator of Mahmoud Darwish, *The Butterfly's
Burden*(Copper Canyon, 2008).
Hayan Charara is a poet, translator, editor, and teacher. He is the author
of *The Sadness of Others* (Carnegie Mellon UP, 2006), *The Alchemist's
Diary* (Hanging Loose Press, 2001), and the editor of *Inclined to Speak: An
Anthology of Contemporary Arab American Poetry* (University of Arkansas
Press, 2008).
