Hi all,

We have two events upcoming on the Palm Desert campus that might be of interest for screenwriters, filmmakers, fiction writers and lovers of former teen idols (the Venn diagram for this is already in the works...)

First:

On November 1st at 6:30pm, we'll be screening the award-winning short film Irish Twins (irishtwinsfilm.com), followed by a discussion with Rider Strong (that's the former teen idol in question, plus the star of Cabin Fever and several other films and television shows, including his decade long run on Boy Meets World ) & his brother Shiloh Strong, both of whom wrote, produced and star in the film. Irish Twins has garnered praise and awards from Tribeca to Los Angeles and all points in between and Rider & Shiloh will be talking about the process of creating the film, sustaining a career in Hollywood, writing, acting and, in an interesting twist, doing so while pursuing an MFA in creative writing, which Rider is currently doing as well. This event is free and open to the public, so bring friends and family if you like, too.

Second...and just five short days later:

On November 6th at 6pm, author Allison Amend (allisonamend.com) will be on hand to read from and discuss her debut collection of stories Things That Pass For Love. Allison is a wonderful writer of short fiction -- her work has appeared in magazines like the Atlantic Monthly, One Story, Prairie Schooner, Black Warrior Review -- and, as well, earned a Fullbright and graduated from Iowa's Writing Workshop.

If you have questions or need directions, please don't hesitate to ask.
