How to Apply / Contact
Please send resumes to Franklin Leonard 00 at:
appianway at harvardwood.org In your cover letter, please explain
briefly why you love film and list your five favorite films of
all time and the last five books you have read. No calls, please.

Description & Details
Appian Way, a feature film production company whose recent
credits include THE AVIATOR, is looking for spring (beginning
immediately) and summer (beginning mid-May June) interns.
This is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in
feature film development at an active, young production
company with a first look deal at Warner Brothers and films
set up at Paramount, Sony, and Universal. Interns will focus
on reading and evaluating material, working with executives on
various research and organizational projects, and assisting
with day to day office operations.

Internship is unpaid and students must be available to work an
absolute minimum of 10 hours per week. This position requires
a reliable, dedicated, and self-motivated individual with a
passion for movies and filmmaking and a desire to learn.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
To apply for this internship, please submit your cover letter
and resume VIA EMAIL per the above instructions. Write the
cover letter as if it were going directly to the company,
although you will be sending it via Harvardwood (e.g. 'Dear
Company X', NOT 'Dear Harvardwood'). Include your direct
contact information in the cover letter, and be sure to state
that you are applying for the internship through the
Harvardwood Summer Internship Program. Please address your
letters as follows: Contact Person Company X c/o Harvardwood
Summer Internship Program 8954 Wonderland Ave. LA, CA 90046
Please email your application to the above email address. Most
arts/entertainment firms hire interns on a rolling basis --
thus the earlier you submit your materials, the more likely
you are to get an internship. In addition, we strongly suggest
researching each company before writing your cover letter.
After Harvardwood forwards your materials to the company, they
may contact you directly for more information, to set up a
phone interview, or simply to offer you a position. It is up
to you to weigh any offer(s) you receive and to accept or
decline in a professional manner. If (and ONLY if) you receive
an offer but have questions regarding the status of your
application at another company, you may contact Harvardwood to
check on the status of your other application(s). You may
contact Harvardwood at any time with other questions and concerns.

ACADEMIC CREDIT
Please read the following statement on OCS policy regarding
internships requiring school credit: Most internships in media
and arts require that an unpaid intern receive academic credit
and/or be supervised by an academic advisor. Harvard does not
grant academic credit for internships. However, you are
eligible to receive academic credit for an independent study
project for which the internship can form the basis for
thought and research. If you are in good academic standing and
you will be returning to the College in the semester following
your internship, OCS will provide you with a letter explaining
Harvard's policy and confirming that you are eligible to
receive academic credit for an independent study project based
on the internship. In order to obtain this letter, you will
need to do the following: AFTER obtaining an internship offer,
ask your Senior Tutor (or if you are a freshman, your freshman
proctor or an assistant freshman dean) to write a brief letter
stating your class year, the fact that you are in good
academic standing, and that you will be returning to the
College the semester following your internship. Letters should
be sent to Gail Gilmore at OCS (ggilmore at fas.harvard.edu).
Once this letter is received, the internship policy letter
will be left for you in the pick-up box in the OCS Reception
area. If you plan to apply to multiple internships, it's a
good idea to make copies of the original letter so that you
won't need to request additional letters. If you should decide
to structure the internship as an independent study project,
it is your responsibility to find an academic advisor for the
project and to carry it through to completion. PLEASE WAIT
UNTIL YOU ACCEPT AN INTERNSHIP TO REQUEST THESE DOCUMENTS.
THANK YOU. If you have further questions, feel free to visit
with Gail Gilmore during walk-in hours (schedules are posted
in the OCS lobby). If you are graduating or will not be
returning to school after the summer, you will need to explore
other options for fulfilling the credit requirement if
necessary (e.g. enrolling in an independent study at a local
community college).

LABOR LAWS AND DISCLAIMER
Different states have different labor laws regarding
internships; it is the responsibility of the participating
companies and the individual interns to inform themselves and
ensure that the relevant labor laws are not being violated.
Harvardwood disclaims any and all legal responsibility in
these matters.
