Alex Espinoza
Lecturer, UC Riverside Department of Creative Writing
Alex Espinoza was born in Tijuana, Mexico in 1971. The youngest of
eleven children, he was raised in La Puente, a surburb of Los Angeles.
Alex moved to the Inland Empire in 1991 and attended San Bernardino
Valley College before going on to earn his BA in Creative Writing from
UC Riverside. He went on to receive his MFA in Writing from UC Irvine in
2004. He has worked as a retail manager, a used appliance salesman, and
a gardener. He has written for Salon, and a chapbook entitled "Jesus
Stole My Bike" was published as part of the Chicano Chapbook Series
edited by poet Gary Soto. His first novel, tentatively titled Still
Water Saints, will be published by Random House in 2007. He teaches in
the Creative Writing Department at UC Riverside
and lives in the area. He is currently working on a second novel.
