Inland So. California & The Great Recession: Impacts & Future Prospects

With an unemployment rate of more than 14%, the inland Southern California region has been one of the regions hardest hit by the Great Recession of 2008-09. It has also been the epicenter of the housing foreclosure crisis.

Anil Deolalikar, Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Sustainable Suburban Development at UCR, will discuss why the Inland Empire has suffered much more than the rest of the state or the country at the February 18 Randall Lewis Seminar Series.

The seminar will be held at 5:30 p.m. in Conference Room B., UCR Extension Building, 1200University Avenue. See MAP.

Professor Deolalikar, who also is Associate Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at UCR, will examine the prospects for income growth and job recovery in the region, especially in light of longer-term economic, social and demographic trends.
