Tips and Tricks for Surviving the Daily Commute
It’s the bane of Southern California. Every day, millions of commuters face congested freeways, stress, accidents, smog, and the threat of road rage.
Dr. David Rizzo, also known as Dr. Roadmap, may be able to help. The podiatrist and former studio and helicopter traffic reporter will discuss how those daily commutes can affect your health and what to do to make the trip more pleasant at the March 20 Randall Lewis Seminar series.
Dr. Rizzo will examine how to ease stress, discuss the dangers of road rage, and offer several tips on how to beat traffic congestion, including trip preparation, how to save time on freeways and surface streets, how make the most of traffic reports and how to master alternate routes. He also will discuss how in-car navigation devices and other technology can aid in beating traffic, and provide what he believes is a solution to the effects of commuting.
He is the author of two books, Survive the Drive! How to Beat Freeway Traffic in Southern California, and Freeway Alternates. He also has written more than 400 newspaper and magazine stories on commuting, is the traffic columnist for the Orange County Register’s weekly newspapers, holds a credential in Transportation Demand Management from UCLA and has worked as a rideshare planner for a transportation engineering firm.
A lively audience of elected officials, business people, city and county staff, environmentalists, members of community groups and those who simply want to explore topics affecting the future of their communities is anticipated.
The seminar will begin at 5:30 p.m. at University Village, UV207. See map.
The seminars are free of charge.
