The Inland Region's Emerging White-Collar Workforce

Inland housing construction may be waning, but demand for high quality office developments is reaching record levels. The trend is changing the landscape for the Inland region’s commercial sector and its blue-collar workforce image by attracting a wider scope of developers, a more diverse tenant mix and highly educated white-collar workers.

As the office market expands, what challenges and opportunities will this employment shift present to employers, educators and students? What are the future trends in office development with regard to mixed-use, live/work and green development? And where will emerging office markets develop in the near future?

Mary Sullivan has more than 20 years of real estate experience encompassing market research, project marketing, on-site leasing, staff management, consulting and training.

Until recently, she was Vice President and Director of National Client Services for the Research & Client Services Group of Grubb & Ellis Co. in Ontario. She currently is a consultant for Grubb & Ellis and other clients.

In her 20 years at Grubb & Ellis, Ms. Sullivan advanced from research coordinator and research director to covering commercial markets in the Inland Empire, Orange and Los Angeles counties. In her role as Vice President of National Client Services, she was responsible for business development, marketing, research and client services.

Ms. Sullivan is frequently called on to evaluate and/or make presentations on real estate industry data, pending development, economic forecasts and projections for the media, developers, clients, and city and county governments.

She graduated with honors from California State University, Fullerton with a degree in Organizational Communication. She also completed the Executive Management Program at UCR, and more recently summer programs at the MIT Graduate Center for Real Estate in Boston.

A lively audience of elected officials, business people, city and county staff, environmentalists, members of community groups and those who simply want to explore topics affecting the future of their communities is anticipated.

The seminar will begin at 5:30 p.m. at University Village, UV207. See map.

The seminars are free of charge.
