Youth Climate Action Fund Interest Form

*Do you know any 15–24 year‑olds who are interested in climate change
solutions?🌎*

The City of Riverside has been selected to participate in Bloomberg
Philanthropies’ 2026–2027 Youth Climate Action Fund cohort. Through this
program, we will support young people ages 15–24 in designing and
delivering projects aligned with the City’s Climate Action Plan priorities.
Project funding will range from 1,000 to 5,000 dollars. *Applications open
August 17.*

📢Nick's Community Garden Virtual Meeting This Wednesday📢

The City of Riverside, in collaboration with Five Keys, the Riverside
Garden Council, and the Inland Empire Food Systems Alliance, invites you to
Help Create a Community Garden.

Nick's Garden will provide much needed fresh, organic fruits and
vegetables, which are lacking in the Northside neighborhood. *The project
will include 24 garden plots, with 80 square feet per plot*. This is the
first phase of the Northside Agriculture Innovation Center that will
improve air and water quality, increase wildlife habitat, and provide
healthy, locally grown food for an area that is currently considered a food
desert, with no grocery stores nearby.

Nick Melquiades was the lead advocate for a community garden in the
Northside neighborhood, in fact he helped write the grant that *funded the
$3M urban greening project*. Nick served as the Riverside Garden Council
chair and was a founding member of the Riverside Food Co-op and Riverside
Food Systems Alliance. We are deeply saddened that we lost Nick to the
pandemic and now name the garden in his honor for his dedication to making
healthy, local foods available to all. Read more about Nick here
