Welcome back!

I am reaching out to let you know that I'm thrilled to announce a very
special event. On *Wednesday, October 8, 2025, *Professor Richard Rodriguez
(English), Professor Alfonso Gonzales-Toribio (Ethnic Studies), the Center
for Ideas and Society (CIS), the office of the Dean of CHASS, and the Tomás
Rivera Endowment will be hosting *Palabra y Poder: An Evening with Sandra
Cisneros*.

This will take place in the *University Theatre* beginning at *7:00 PM*,
with doors opening at *6:30 PM*.

Sandra Cisneros—acclaimed author of *The House on Mango Street*, *Woman
Without Shame*, and many more—will join me for a reading and conversation
about her life, work, and the transformative power of story. Following the
program, there will be a *book signing*, with books available for purchase
courtesy of the Inlandia Institute.

*Seating is limited and expected to fill quickly, so please plan to arrive
early to secure your spot.*
This is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of storytelling,
heritage, resistance, voice, and an incredible opportunity to engage with
one of the most influential writers of our time. We hope you will join us
