LCFS rally & public comment invitation:
>From SEHE instructor Fernando Márquez Duarte and our partners in PC4EJ, It
is possible to attend the hearing in person, to join and comment via

or to submit a public comment during the hearing time (starting at 9am on
11/8) via the CARB website here
<https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/applications/public-comments>.
Dear partners,
California is trying to approve a "false solutions" climate program called
the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS)
<https://calmatters.org/commentary/2024/10/overhaul-low-carbon-fuel-standard/>
that
will continue to fund and grow false solutions like dairy digesters in the
Central Valley
<https://www.canarymedia.com/articles/policy-regulation/california-could-lock-in-disastrous-dairy-methane-rules-advocates-warn>
, deforestation efforts in Asia and South America
<https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2024-03-14/california-climate-change-environment-diesel-biomass-low-carbon-fuel-standard>
and
funnel more polluting fuels like methane, "renewable diesel", and others,
into our communities. This program also allows industry to buy "credits" so
they can keep polluting, instead of reducing emissions, through the
cap-and-trade element.
And to top it off - the most recent proposal from the California Air
Resources Board strips away up to $12 billion dollars that could have
helped freight impacted communities (e.g. incentives to replace medium- and
heavy-duty trucks)
This program, the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), is coming up for a *vote* in
front of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) on *November 8th in
Riverside* (4001 Iowa Ave, Riverside, CA 92507) we need *YOU* to show up
with us to show CARB that we *oppose* these false solutions!
How is this possible when we are living in some of the worst air pollution
in the Country? And when we know our communities need assistance for the
transition?
*We can't allow industry and government agencies to keep putting profit
before the health and lives of our communities. We can't allow
environmental racism to keep going on unchecked!*
*Please join us on November 8th at 8am in front of CARB HQ in Riverside for
breakfast & a rally! *
*We will then march in at 9am for the start of the meeting & to give public
comment.*
If you can make any part of this - please let me know by responding to
fernando.marquezduarte at email.ucr.edu! Your participation is super important!
