Dear Colleague,

You are cordially invited to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management’s (FECM) Webinar for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Other Minority Institutions Program (HBCU-OMI) – hosted by the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). This year’s webinar will take place virtually on Tuesday, April 12 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm ET.

The objective of the FECM HBCU-OMI Webinar is to inform attendees from minority serving institutions (MSI) on the research and development opportunities that are available within our program, which seeks to increase participation for underrepresented and structurally marginalized communities within the U.S. Relevant academic disciplines include, but are not limited to, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), chemistry, physics, and computer science. We will also be covering interdepartmental collaboration with other offices within DOE.

Representatives from MSIs are strongly encouraged to participate in this event. MSIs include HBCUs, Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian (ANNH), Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander (AANAPISI), and Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions (NASNTI) and/or any institutions of higher education where minority student enrollment is at least 50 percent. The eligibility matrix can be found at: https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ope/idues/eligibility.html

There is no fee for this webinar, but you must be registered by April 8 to participate. Registration and additional information for the webinar is available at:
https://doe.webex.com/doe/j.php?RGID=raa17d22d7e7071a2868d62fa7ae3ea4a

In addition to MSIs, the event is open to anyone looking to learn more about FECM university programs.

The webinar will include discussions on NETL, including: 1) its mission as the leading national laboratory for DOE’s Fossil Energy and Carbon Management Program; 2) its engagement with MSIs and presentations on doing business with the U.S. government; 3) including dissecting a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) and general tips on writing an effective proposal.

I am looking forward to your attendance at the webinar. Additionally, you are encouraged to forward this email to any of your colleagues who also may be interested in participating in this event.

For more information on NETL, visit our website www.netl.doe.gov<http://www.netl.doe.gov/>.

If you have any additional questions, please contact us at HBCU-OMI-Program at netl.doe.gov<mailto:HBCU-OMI-Program at netl.doe.gov>.
