CITL Members,

Do you have what it takes to be a cyber security superhero? That’s the
question we’re asking campus this year as part of 2022 Cyber Security
Awareness Month <https://its.ucr.edu/cybersmart>. Students, faculty, and
staff are invited to strengthen their cyber security “superpowers” to keep
campus safe with month-long activities and information.

As an IT leader on campus, we are reaching out to ask that you help us
spread the word! Opportunities to get involved include:

   - Visit https://its.ucr.edu/cybersmart to learn about 2022 Cyber
   Security Awareness at UCR
   - Watch and share the *UCR Calls for Cyber Security Superheroes!
   <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0Uh1m_2lHQ>* video with your
   organization and students
   - Announce that ITS will have on-campus cyber security info sessions
   with prize giveaways at the ITS booth every Monday (by Coffee Bean) and
   Thursday (by the Belltower)
      - Encourage folks to participate in our Cyber Security Superhero
      Challenge, taking place at the ITS booth starting October 10!
   - Participate in and invite others to take part in our month-long Blind
   Phishing Derby
      - At some point during the month, ITS ISO will send a blind phishing
      lure to campus. The first 10 folks to successfully report the phishing
      email using PhishAlarm
      <https://ucrsupport.service-now.com/ucr_portal/?id=search&spa=1&q=phishalarm>
      will receive a $25 Amazon gift card!
   - Use our new “Cyber Hero” virtual conferencing backgrounds
   <https://its.ucr.edu/virtual-backgrounds>
   - Participate in and share tons of online training modules, speaking
   engagements, and activities offered by UCOP
   <https://security.ucop.edu/resources/security-awareness/cyber-security-month-2022.html>

Please help us encourage others to “see themselves in cyber” and strengthen
their cyber security superpowers. Check out https://its.ucr.edu/cybersmart
to learn more.

Cyber Security Awareness Month is just one of many opportunities to engage
campus users and promote cyber security best practices. We’ve recently
created a Campus Cyber Security Task Force, with an open invitation to
folks from units across campus to become official cyber security advocates.
The task force discusses common and current security issues students and
staff face and collaborates on ways to improve resources aimed at tackling
these challenges. If you or someone you know would be interested in joining
the Campus Cyber Security Task Force, please email ITS Communication &
Training Manager Alex Chrystal at alexandra.chrystal at ucr.edu. You can also
request to access the task force’s Cybersecurity Toolkit
<https://o365ucr.sharepoint.com/teams/CybersecurityToolkit>.
