Good Afternoon,
UCR NetOps has begun to utilize a Los Nettos (a third internet) provided circuit as a failover path to the internet from UCR campus. This service is only designed to route traffic in the event of a failure of both CENIC circuits. While we can see that we have link and can pass some traffic, we have not done an actual failover test. We need to do this test at a time of least disruption to ensure that it will work at a time when a failure could be extremely disruptive.
In order to ensure all the route policies are working properly, we intend to shut down our two BGP sessions with CENIC DC peers on Friday, 9/2 at 10:15 pm.
At that time, we will confirm all UCR internet traffic is being routed over the Los Nettos path. Once that is verified, we will bring the BGP sessions back up and return normal routing. We expect this to take around 30 minutes.
Please let us know of any concerns that you may have.
Thank you,
Sheri
