[CITL] Notice: Upcoming Preventative Maintenance on SoME Data Center UPS

Dear CITL Members & System Support Contacts, 

 

Please be advised of upcoming preventative maintenance being performed on
the SoME Data Center UPS from 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2020.
No impact is expected and services should continue to run as normal.
However, in the unlikely event of power loss to the data center, most
services would be disrupted and a data center systems recovery would be
required. Again, this is unlikely to happen and no impact to campus is
expected.

 

The maintenance date was selected to ensure minimal potential impact to
campus operations and events. This preventative maintenance is needed to
re-establish network connection for monitoring purposes. The Ethernet
connection that permits status information to be collected and monitored
will be repaired/replaced, restoring the ability to proactively monitor UPS
status and detect potential problems. The UPS vendor requires the UPS to be
disabled during this maintenance event. This process has been performed
twice a year for the past three years without incident.
