Good Afternoon Everyone,

Please come and listen to some ISO updates, and then participate in a presentation and discussion by Robert Smith from UCOP on CMMC and its direct impact on research and its funding. Please share this invite with others that need to be aware of security requirements in contracts and grants. https://ucr.zoom.us/j/97768712503?pwd=UzdOelRCV3N1ZFBhd0pENEJDVnhsZz09

Detail:
My name is Dewight F. Kramer and I am the Chief Information Security Officer for UC Riverside. The information security team would like to invite you to the Campus Information Security Team Summer 2020 Meeting. The first 30 minutes will be dedicated to a series of quick updates by the Information Security Office. These updates are really meant to help keep the campus informed on initiatives and projects that the ISO are working on. Although normally we would welcome conversation around these updates this round we ask for these updates that people please take note and reach out to us outside of this meetings, so that we can focus on the major discussion and presentation topic.

Except for closing comments the last hour of this meeting is dedicated to Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification. This new requirement will be incorporated into Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and use it as a requirement for contract award. It is thought that this will start impacting universities in the year or two, and then majorly impacting universities in the next five years. Many believe that the CMMC will expand and be adopted by other contract and granting agencies thus drastically impacting all research institutions.

Robert Smith, the Systemwide IT Policy Director/Security Director from UCOP has been following CMMC and has given a few updates to different groups with in UC System. He has agreed to come to UC Riverside (via Zoom), his old home, and give us an update on CMMC and its possible impacts to UC Riverside research. Please come and see the presentation and participate in the discussion.

Also I apologize if you have received this email more than once, I have sent it to several email lists to try to get the most exposure possible. This is the start of the CMMC Conversation here at UC Riverside, and if you know anyone that should attend please forward this email to them.

Thank you,
