Subject: [Gradfacultystaff] Announcement: DCFA, DYFA & UC–HSI DDI PPPF
Fellowship Applications Now Open
To: <gradfacultystaff at lists.ucr.edu>
Dear Graduate Directors, Advisors, and Coordinators,
Happy Friday!
I hope the Fall quarter is going smoothly. I am writing to share that the
following *three* fellowships are now open, with a deadline of *January 16,
2026**:*
-
*Dissertation Completion Fellowship Award (DCFA) – Round 2*
-
*Dissertation Year Fellowship Award (DYFA)*
-
*UC–HSI DDI President’s Pre-Professoriate Fellowship (UC-HSI DDI PPPF)*
Please note that these are *not first-year fellowships*. Instead, they are
competitive opportunities for continuing PhD students to receive
recognition for their academic achievements and support as they focus on
completing their dissertations. The goal of these programs is to relieve
students of teaching or equivalent responsibilities so they can progress
toward timely degree completion.
These opportunities are available to *PhD students who have advanced to
candidacy*. Attached to this email, you will find a document with full
eligibility details and application guidelines. Each graduate program will
need to conduct its own internal selection process to determine nominees.
Nominations may be submitted by the Graduate Advisor or Graduate Program
Coordinator/Student Affairs Staff via Slate.
Please encourage your students and their faculty mentors to take advantage
of these opportunities.

If you have questions about the fellowships or need support with Slate,
please email *gradawards at ucr.edu <gradawards at ucr.edu>* and cc *Maria
Pimentel*, who will serve as your primary point of contact for these
awards. To keep this message concise, we will send a separate training
email providing detailed Slate guidance.
*A few reminders based on recent inquiries:*
-
Please verify that your nominated student's application has been routed
to the correct *nominated bin* in Slate.
-
*Only* nominated applications should be moved into the nominated bin.
An announcement will also be sent to students informing them of these
fellowship opportunities and directing them to contact their graduate
program regarding any program-specific nomination process.
Wishing you all the best as the Fall quarter comes to a close. We truly
appreciate your time and attention.
All best,
Emma H. Wilson
