Conversation on Careers Devoted to Early Modern Women*

Becky Teague – (host) Third year PhD student at the University of
California, Riverside & Early Career Researcher for the Society for the
Study of Early Modern Women and Gender (SSEMWG)
*Description:* A career dedicated to the study of early modern women can
take a multitude of forms. While some find their place within the more
traditional, academic venue of the university/museum and its dual focus on
research and pedagogy, others locate fulfillment in the commercial
industries of the art market, digital content creation, and advertising or
sales. But how do graduate students and early careerists find the right
path for them in this wide and varied landscape of choices? What kinds of
considerations, decisions, and opportunities are key to a fulfilling,
scholarly livelihood, particularly in light of shrinking humanities budgets
and recent cuts to funding for the arts? This conversation brings together
Dr. Leah Clark, Associate Professor in the History of Art at the University
of Oxford and Dr. Dana Hogan, Manager of Philanthropy at Buffalo AKG Art
Museum to reflect on the topic via a discussion of their own career
trajectories. Please come join us! All are welcome!
*When:* *Wednesday, April 1st at 8am PST / 11am EST / 4pm GMT*
*Where:* The conversation will be hosted via *Zoom. Please use the link to
