<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">My name is Arlene Cano Matute, I am a fourth-year doctoral candidate in the School of Education at the University of California, Riverside. I am currently in the dissertation stage of my program. My research aims
to advance our knowledge of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) by exploring the extent to which these institutions have served Chican</span>o<span style="color:black">/Latino students as a means to operationalize a more holistic and historical understanding
of serving. As principal investigator, I plan to work alongside undergraduate co-researchers on a Participatory Action Research (PAR) project of the University of California, Riverside a top-performing Hispanic Serving Research Institution (HSRI), recovering
the origins of serving from the 1960s-1970s.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
