Dear Students,

Our last event was amazing and had surprise visits from Dolores Huerta and Cheech Marin. Our next dialogue will feature Cheech Marin and the legendary Carlos Santana on December 17 from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. There is a fee ($25) associated with attending each session since this series serves as part of our fundraising efforts. We believe student engagement is critical and would like to offer your respective campus 12 complimentary slots for student participation for our next En Diálogo with Cheech and Santana.

Please have interested students fill out the google form by 12pm December 7. Once we register them on the back end they will receive the zoom link one day before the event. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

The first event of the Decoloniality and Antiracism Series, entitled, Decoloniality in Everyday Practice: Decolonial Approaches to Scholarship and Pedagogy was initially held on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 11:00 am-12:00 pm. Unfortunately, technical difficulties occurred and only 24 out of the 75 registrants received the link to attend the event. As a result of these technical difficulties and several requests from students to hold this event again, we have decided to hold this event on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 11:00 am-12:00 pm, PT. The Decoloniality and Antiracism series is a collaborative between Isabela Pérez (GSA DIAL), Fernando David Márquez Duarte, the Middle Eastern Student Center, Chicano Student Programs, African Student Programs, CARE, and the Women's Resource Center. In this workshop, you will learn about the processes of integrating decolonial perspectives as a student in your scholarship and pedagogy, to create a more inclusive and intercultural society.
