*Individuals' glycemic response reveals patterns in metabolic health and
underlying physiologies*
*Date:* Friday, October 24
*Time:* 12:00 pm-1:00pm
*Location: *Genomics Auditorium 1102
*Abstract:*
Metabolism responds dynamically to factors like nutrient input in human and
other organisms. Such responses shed light on the underlying regulation,
individuals’ specific metabolic dysfunction, and other lifestyle factors.
In my latest paper, I presented individual variation in their responses to
the same carbohydrate food and its connection with metabolic subtypes,
including insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction. The individual
glycemic patterns were deeply connected to clinical measurements,
metabolites, lipids, and microbiomes. I will also present my expansion of
this work to routine daily meals and the connection between glycemic
responses and dietary habits. Finally, I will present method development on
extracting potential causal connections between metabolites base on a
fungal dataset.
