* Nuts and Bolts of a Start-Up in Ag (a personal journey of a plant
biologist)*

*Abstract: *
This seminar will outline the practical steps to spin out an idea from
academia into a venture backed start-up. I will share how I moved from
performing basic plant biology research to starting a company. I will
highlight challenges around identifying a clear market need, securing
resources, and forming a team. I will also discuss key decisions about
structuring a company, defining intellectual property, and approaching
investors. By walking through my own start-up experience, I hope to
highlight lessons on navigating the transition from the bench to a
commercial venture, and to offer guidance for those interested on embarking
on a similar path.
