CHRRP Data Entry and SEEDS National BioBlitz

Hello Fellow SEEDS Members!


** Thank you to those that were able to attend our meeting and entered data for CHRRP (Campus Hill Restoration Research Project). If you are interested in assisting in data entry for this project, please fill out the form at the bottom of the email.

We will also be participating in the SEEDS National BioBlitz 2021 hosted by ESA SEEDS. This competition will be taking place from May 6 to May 13. We hope everyone can participate so SEEDS at UCR can win!

SEEDS National BioBlitz 2021


This BioBlitz is in part of the SEEDS National BioBlitz 2021, and it is a competitive event – add as many observations as you can so we, the UC Riverside Chapter of SEEDS, can win!

A BioBlitz is an event where naturalists of all skill levels go out into nature to collect observations of as many species as possible. Since our BioBlitz is virtual, you can collect observations from any place you wish to explore! To participate, create an account on iNaturalist if you do not already have one. Then, join this project. Any observations you upload within the the set timeframe will be included in the project. Amateur and professional naturalists in the iNaturalist community can then identify what you find. We can also identify each other's discoveries!

Tips for Using iNaturalist

• Always include at least one photo in each observation.
• Remember to include the location of the find – this is useful for species identification!
• You can obscure the location of your find if you wish.
• The iNaturalist software has automated species ID; you can keep this identification if you are not sure what you found.

Campus Hill Restoration Research Project (CHRRP)

Volunteers needed for Data Entry
With help from Dr. Michael Fugate and Center for Conservation Biology graduate students Jared and Annika, we were able to finish sampling baseline species composition. We need students to assist with entering this data so that it can be analyzed.

Grant Application Submitted
We have submitted an application for the Bloom-Hayes Grant, which is awarded by the Sea and Sage Chapter of the Audubon Society. If awarded to us, this grant will assist in funding for CHRRP.

We have created a new iNaturalist project to track the biodiversity of "BIO 5C Hill" the site of our research project. Join the project using the link below! If you observe anything on BIO 5C Hill, your observations will automatically be added to our project.
