We seek Graduate Research Assistants to contribute to a data-based scoping
study supporting design of an urban earth system observatory in the greater
LA region. Project PIs are from EEOB (Kurt Anderson), BPS (Darrel
Jenerette), and ENSC (Andy Gray, Tamara Harms, Francesca Hopkins, Will
Porter). The ultimate goal of the observatory is to enable research on
sustainable development and management of urban systems. GSRs will
contribute to cataloging, assembling, and analyzing existing environmental
data describing patterns in water, air, and biota of the LA region. Results
of these analyses will inform design of a robust, integrated urban
observatory network that can be used to track responses to changes in
environmental conditions and policies, test implementation of
sustainability practices such as green infrastructure, and forecast future
changes in the urban environment.
