Hello all,

I am organizing the schedule for our MCBL Seminar Speaker Dr. Jack Gilbert
<https://gilbertlab.ucsd.edu/> in 2 weeks, on November 10. He is a pillar
of the field of microbiology, doing exciting research in human microbiome,
microbiome of the built environment, soil health, and marine microbiology
(Bio from his website pasted in below). He will be at UCR from UCSD/Scripps
just for the day on November 10th. Please consider attending his seminar on
Nov 10 at 2PM in the Genomics Auditorium. Let me know ASAP if you want to
meet with him that day, as well as your entire availability 10-4 that day.
I may double up some meetings if necessary.

Cheers,
Emma

moved to the University of California San Diego, where he is a Professor in
Pediatrics and Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Associate Vice
Chancellor for Marine Science, and Director of the Microbiome and
Metagenomics Center. Dr. Gilbert uses molecular analysis to test
fundamental hypotheses in microbial ecology. He cofounded the Earth

Altemeier Prize from the Surgical Infection Society, and the WH Pierce
Prize from the Society for Applied Microbiology for research excellence. In
2017 he co-authored “Dirt is Good”, a popular science guide to the
microbiome and children’s health. In 2018, he founded BiomeSense Inc.
<https://www.biomesense.com/> to produce automated microbiome sensors. In
