We are excited to announce the 2026 Southwest Ecologist Travel award
($550)! Funding will be awarded to *four* early career (students and
post-graduates) and/or federal agency ecologists whose work is related to
ecosystems in the Southwestern US. Recipients will receive support for
travel expenses related to their attendance of 2026 ESA annual meeting
(Salt Lake City, UT; Jul 26-31), allowing them to present their work,
engage in meaningful discussions and expand their professional network.

*Eligibility:*

   -

   Applicants must be members of the Southwest Chapter at the time of
   application.
   -

   Applicants must be presenting a talk or poster at the ESA meeting that
   focuses on ecosystems of the Southwest region of the US or northern Mexico.
   -

   Applicants should consider themselves early career when they are within
   5 years or less post-PhD completion (e.g., undergraduates, graduates and
   postdocs).

*Required materials:*

   -

   A copy of the abstract submitted.
   -

   A one-paragraph statement about the impact of the presented work to your
   field and relevance to ecosystems of the SW.
   -

   A one-paragraph statement explaining why you are applying for this award.

*Responsibilities of awardee:*

   -

   The awardee must attend the Southwest Chapter business meeting during
   2026 ESA Meeting.
   -

   The awardee must acknowledge the Chapter in their presentation.

*Applications are due:* June 14th, 2026. Questions can be sent to:
