[CaTEACH-SMI] Reminder...Noyce Scholarships: 2010-11 Credential Candidates Deadline 2/28

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Noyce Scholarship for Excellence in
STEM Teaching awards multiple $10,000 scholarships to aspiring middle and
high school science and mathematics teachers.  The long-term impact will
include involvement of over 50 classrooms that support a total of 2,000
students at the rapidly growing, low-performing  Moreno Valley Unified
School District. 

 

Eligibility:

Recipient must be either a current UCR:

STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) major with intent
of pursuing single-subject science or mathematics teaching credential

OR

Single-Subject Science or Mathematics Teaching Credential Candidate who has
earned a STEM Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.)

 

Minimum Requirements:

Major: Declared as a major in either the College of Natural Agricultural
Sciences (CNAS) or the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) Class Level
Standing (one of the following status): 

.         UCR Junior or Senior level student (completion of 90 units or
more) with anticipation of completing a STEM degree within the next two
years and intention to pursue a single-subject science or mathematics
teaching credential

.         UCR Single-Subject Science or Mathematics Teaching Credential
Candidate with a STEM degreeAcademic Status: Good Standing GPA (cumulative):
3.0 or greater 

*	Early Field Experiences: EDUC 3 and EDUC 4 or equivalent
*	Teaching Credential Potential: Demonstrated eligibility for UCR
Teaching Credential Program 
*	Noyce Application: Submit completed Noyce Application, which
includes two letters of recommendation and personal narrative essays
*	Citizenship: U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Permanent Resident
Alien 


Preferred Qualifications:Advanced Field Experiences: SMI & ALPHA Apprentice
Program or equivalent 

*	Exams Completion: CBEST AND CSET (one or more science/mathematics
subtests) 

Minimum Requirements:

. Major: Declared as a major in either the College of Natural Agricultural
Sciences (CNAS) or the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) 

. Class Level Standing (one of the following status): 

.   UCR Junior or Senior level student (completion of 90 units or more) with
