EDUCATION ABROAD
for
CALIFORNIA TEACH - SCIENCE/MATHEMATICS INITIATIVE
LOCATION: University of Chile in Santiago
TIME PERIOD: Up to 2-quarters + partial summer
Option #1: March through
July
Option #2: August through
December
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
* UC student and a participant of CaTEACH-SMI
* Demonstrated basic knowledge of Spanish language
PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS:
* Language: Participate in a 3-week intensive language program upon
arrival in Santiago
* Housing: For the first month, participants are placed with a
host family, with an option to stay with host family or find an apartment
for remainder EAP program
* Internship: Participate in an internship with Professor Rosa Deves,
a biochemist who directs the ECBI program, which is an inquiry-based STEM
program for K-8 schools in Chile
