[CaTEACH-SMI] Payne Scholarship for California Science Education Conference

ATTENTION: PRE-SERVICE SCIENCE TEACHERS

The California Science Teachers Association (CSTA) is pleased to 
present a series of sessions designed for pre-service science 
teachers at the California Science Education Conference -- October 30 
- November 2, 2008 in San Jose. Through a grant from the Payne Family 
Foundation, you may apply to receive a stipend for attending the conference.

The Payne Scholars program includes workshops specially designed for 
preservice science teachers, major speakers on standards-based 
instruction, a networking reception with instructor-mentors, and a 
certificate and T-shirt upon completion of the program.

Requirements for receiving the stipend
Students must:
    * Register 
(http://smi.ucr.edu/pdf.scholarships/payneregistrationform.pdf) for 
the California Science Education Conference 
(http://www.cascience.org/csta/conf_home.asp) at the special rate for 
preservice teachers and join CSTA at the student rate.
    * Complete the Payne Scholars application form.
    * Attend at least five sessions, two of them designated as part 
of the preservice strand at the conference.
    * Assist at conference registration for a minimum of two hours. 
(Participants who volunteer for four hours will receive complimentary 
conference registration in addition to receiving the stipend.)
    * Complete the documentation log to receive the stipend.
